8.5/10. An impressive performance. The majority of these marks are coming from the meal itself. The pub was lacking atmosphere, there weren't any seats left in front of tv screens with sport on so we sat in a side room without a tv (on a Sunday there is so much sport on that this was a major area for losing marks, ie. no Eng vs Ind cricket or Ars vs Bir cup final where we were sat) which was disappointing. Also, the table was wonky and the room was a bit run down. However, the food was the best we have had yet. Clearly all especially cooked, as it was a carvery, unlike the microwaved meals we have had before. Beef and pork were top notch and the roast potatoes were the best yet being actually crispy! Being a carvery too meant you could have as much as you liked so gravy amount wasn't a problem. A great addition was cauliflour cheese which was very nice. So, if you are looking for the best food, go here. If you're a sports fan, stay away! X-factor contestant: Matt Cardle, a good performer but doesn't provide a good enough package as a whole. So this week i am going to give the packhorse a 8.5/10. A very good meal. Lots of beef and veg although i would have like a little more veg choice for a carvery, but the cauliflower cheese was immense i havent seen that at any of the other pubs so far, legends. I smothered mine in gravy maybe they should limit how much gravy you are allowed when it is there you just get carried away but it was all very tasty. The potatoes where slightly burnt but and when i seen fresh ones other people had which where not so burnt i was very jealous. The atmosphere was good and i had an excellent time. Overall SUPERB.

A classic. Lots of meat - by lots I mean both in terms of variety and portion size. Plenty of veg including cauliflour cheese which was a delight. Beautful cooked with a choice of gravy. A treat. However - did get told off by the bar staff for helping ourselves to extra veg. Not really a carvery, is it. You liars. Also this logic doesn't hold up as the first time I went up I didn't take loads on the assumption I could come back. Had I have known, I would have taken so much I couldn't finish and therefore the wastage would have been greater. Also the pub could do with a lick of paint. 8.

8.5 / 10. Was a very good 'carvery' - note the quotation marks as we were told we were not allowed second helpings... which surely contradicts the point of a carvery?! Good roast pots and loved the cauliflower cheese, being able to have as much gravy as I wanted and the Kanye West music. But altogether the embarassment of being branded as greedy whilst sneaking a 3rd Yorkshire pudding was too much to bare.

Score - 8. Carvery gave lots of options for the dinner. Both roast beef and roast pork were well cooked and lovely, no peas graced my plate (to which I couldn't be happier about). This dinner itself was actually perfect. So why do I give it 8? The dinner is not only the food, it is everything. We were in a small poorly maintained room with a television (and I wanted to watch the rugby), the stools were falling to pieces, the bench had no cushion and the small round tables made it difficult for everyone to fit around. I don't think I couldve stayed the whole evening there, especially as we were not about to get seconds (although I secretly did). Packhorse, so close yet not quite.

A very quaint little establishment. Very relaxing and enjoyable. Extremely Cheap for a carvery at £4.50. Not the cheapest on the Otley Road but did I mention it was a carvery. Just a choice of two meats carved this week so a choice of pork or beef. I had both. I did hear a rumour that occasionally lamb gets carved at this carvery. The meat was cooked perfectly which was noticeable as it was carved it just crumbled under the pressure of the knife. The cauliflower cheese was immense and the roast potatoes were an absolute delight. The brilliance of a carvery was choosing the quantities of each item yourself. The only downside was how small the plate was but for £4.50 you cant expect all you can eat. On the whole a lovely roast 9.0
